Updates: The Lean idle knocking was rectified when we replaced the OEM fuel filter with another one, and sent the injectors out to be professionally cleaned. I presume some old fuel / fuel line crap had come loose in the start up phases and clogged them up pretty darn good, since his Z has sat for so long...but anyways, that portion is seemingly rectified and now we have some new squirrels.

Over view: My buddy purchased a AshSpec ecu a few months back, and we finally got around to taking it out of the package, and installing it and are having some issues.

**I will try to be as descriptive as possible, until we can speak to Ashspecz on Monday when they are open, just looking for ideas for this weekend; I searched but got hit an miss information for ashspecz ecu's as it pertains to this specific issue**.

In short: The ECU starts his Z, however we are not able to get any diagnostic data feedback from it, ie: (No communication when plugged into the port under the steering wheel).

We have access to a number of other Z32's here from our local Z club, from 90-95, NA an TT alike, and all of their ECU's when installed in his Z work to get communication. As in, we turn the key forward, and we get the initial part of the communication process back on my scan tool with ecu information, serial numbers,etc.. with the port below the steering wheel....but with the AshSpecs ecu we get nothing with my snap on diagnostic tool.

**His ECU does have dual fuel MAP switch option for 93 & 100+ octane, not sure if this modification to his ecu to install the needed hardware for this feature by Ash is affecting our communication to read what is going on with his Z. (as this is the key difference between his ECU an every other stock,JWT,ztuner,Z1, SZ, etc..ECU here that works fine.

As she sits right now, she starts up with the AshSpecz ECU, idle isn't right, and she stalls out fairly easily, misfire on #3 cylinder, (hence the need to have the communication issue fixed to help us track down what may be causing it, since injector pulse, good spark and gap seems to all be normal). When we take her for a test drive, the exhuast tips come back rather pitch black within a 15minute drive. (rich, but that is the least right now with out a good running Z to start).

(So the communication issue is my MAIN focus to get back on the right track, as this is slowing us down severely right now).

Although all the data can be accessed manually through a very time consuming process in contrast, this is not normal, especially when we can swap in any other Z32 ecu, and get communication no problem. We just cant start his Z with them, since no one here has a tune for 740cc, selin dual pop, etc,etc..

Any insight would be great...

Have a good weekend fellaz.

~M.
